Autonomous Mini Rally Car Teaches Itself to Powerslide
In this work from Georgia Tech, researchers have developed a control algorithm that allows small-scale autonomous cars to drive autonomously around dirt tracks at high speeds. Using real-time onboard sensing and processing, AutoRally keeps its speed as close as possible to 8 meters per second while not crashing. An initial training phase consists of just a few minutes of a non-expert human driving AutoRally around the track in remote-control mode; all of the resulting maneuvers are a product of the algorithm itself.
